What this is
Hadath (the Arabic word for event) is an independent guide to what is on around the world. It lists concerts, sport, festivals, exhibitions, conferences and public celebrations in 32 countries, each with its own site at an address such as india.hadath.live. Every listing gives the date, the venue and a link to the organiser's official page. Hadath does not run the events and does not sell tickets.
This is the New Zealand site. The world page at hadath.live brings every country together, and each country site is a click away from the others.
What is listed
Established events with a named organiser, published dates and an official page: the large annual festivals, sporting calendars, trade fairs, national celebrations and the biggest concerts and exhibitions. Private parties, events from promoters we cannot identify and anything with dates only on social media are left out. An event is not listed until its date has been published.
Where dates come from
Each event page names its sources and the day its dates were checked. Dates carry one of three labels:
- Confirmed: published by the organiser or the governing body.
- Announced: reported by a reliable outlet or an official release, with the organiser's own page not yet updated.
- Expected: the organiser has published only a month or season, or the date follows the moon.
Past events drop off the upcoming lists automatically. Dates change, so confirm with the organiser before you buy or travel.
Prices, links and photographs
A price appears only where the organiser or seller printed it, as the lowest figure, and it can change. Ticket links go to the organiser or an authorised seller, never to a resale marketplace. Photographs are freely licensed pictures from Wikimedia Commons, credited on the page, and show the event, the same event in an earlier year, or its venue or city; where the picture is not of the event itself, the page says so. When there is no suitable licensed photograph the listing shows a drawn poster.
Independence
Organisers do not pay to be listed, and a link to an official page or a ticket seller carries no endorsement.
